Ohio State Coaches To Be Honored

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State baseball coach Marty Karow will have his No. 13 jersey retired and current coach Bob Todd will be honored when the Buckeyes play Illinois in their final home Big Ten series of the season May 9-11.

Karow was Ohio State’s coach from 1951 until 1976. He led the Buckeyes to four College World Series, winning the national title in 1966.

He will become only the third person to have his Ohio State baseball number retired, joining Fred Taylor and Steve Arlin. He will be remembered between games of the May 10 double-header.

Todd is Ohio State’s winningest coach. He will be recognized before the game May 9 for being inducted into the American Baseball Coaches hall of fame.

In past years, Ohio State has given up some greats to the NFL. Of the 2005-2006 Buckeye team, the following players were also firt round picks: A.J. Hawk now plays for the Green Bay Packers, Donte Whitner for the Buffalo Bills, Bobby Carpenter for the Dallas Cowboys, Nick Mangold for the New York Jets and Santonio Holmes for the Pitsburg Steelers.
