Big Ten Network, Mediacom reach agreement

Mediacom and the Big Ten Network announced an agreement today that will bring the network to subscribers in time for the season, which begins Saturday. Customers living in states with Big Ten schools will have the network as part of their expanded basic cable service.

The agreement has the biggest impact for viewers in Iowa, who will be able to watch the Hawkeyes’ season opener against Maine on Saturday. Mediacom also serves parts of Illinois.

This rounds out a series of agreements this week between the Big Ten and cable providers and ensures that the network will be available around the league’s “footprint” for the start of the 2008 season after being largely unavailable in 2007.
