Tressel Shines Little Light On Beanie

COLUMBUS, Ohio — At his weekly news conference, Head Coach Jim Tressel shined little light on the status of running back Beanie Wells.

"Our trainers labeled him as doubtful for Saturday … then I saw Beanie this morning and he said he felt great …" Tressel said.

When asked if he would expect Wells to play next week against USC, Tressel said, "Yes."

He would not give Wells’ injury a specific name and said it was not significant or debilitating. His mother, Paulette, said Saturday her son was suffering from turf toe.

"I haven’t ruled him out … I have the third vote: player then medical people. You have to let them decide," Tressel said.

Other notes from the news conference:

Kurt Coleman may return after missing the YSU game with an injury.

Doug Worthington may play sooner than he did last week. He’s still going through disciplinary actions after a recent DUI citation.

Brian Robiskie’s shoulder injury was not significant, and he will play Saturday against OU.
