Mark Dantonio believes Ohio State is in good hands with Luke Fickell.
Dantonio, the Michigan State coach, and Fickell both served on Jim Tressel’s Ohio State staff in 2002-03 (Dantonio as defensive coordinator and Fickell as special teams coordinator). Dantonio was impressed with Fickell back then, and he expects the 37-year-old to handle a uniquely challenging situation as the new interim head coach of the Buckeyes.
“I know him very, very well, and we remain close,” Dantonio told ESPN.com on Tuesday. “He’s an excellent coach, I thought he did a great job [Monday] at his press conference. He’s a great person, and he’s a person the players respect.”
