Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer Lands 4-Star Eli Woodard of the 2013 Class

After stuffing the Ohio State Buckeyes defensive line with talent in the 2012 class, Urban Meyer has clearly set his focus on the secondary in the 2013 class. About a month ago, the Buckeyes landed 5-star cornerback Cam Burrows and just now received a commitment from another top CB in Eli Woodard.

Woodard announced his commitment via his own Twitter account.

According to Rivals, Woodard is a 4-star corner back and the 28th best player overall in the 2013 class. The product out of Voorhees, N.J. is a solid 6’1″ and 185 pounds and is quite the athlete. In high school, the young prospect played both ways but will play CB at the next level.

On the field, Woodard stays very active and plays with passion and intensity. He’s constantly flying to the ball and showcases pretty impressive coverage skills. Along with his blanket coverage, Woodard has the ability to step and make big open-field tackles.

Woodard is OSU’s fourth commitment of the 2013 class that looks to be headed towards one of the top recruiting classes in the nation next year. It’s safe to say Meyer is assembling an extremely talented secondary, and with highly touted cornerbacks like Woodard and Burrows coming to Columbus, foes will be hard-pressed to move the ball through the air against the Buckeyes.
