Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer Lands 4-Star TE Marcus Baugh

As Urban Meyer begins his first spring in Columbus, him and his staff have also heated up on the recruiting trail. According to Greg Biggins of Fox Sports, tight end prospect Marcus Baugh committed to Ohio State today.

The news was first broke by Baugh’s father, but was later confirmed by the recruit himself when he declared, “I committed to Ohio State this morning, I’m a Buckeye!”

Per Rivals, Baugh is a 4-star prospect and the fifth best tight end in the 2013 class. At 6’4″ 200 lbs, Baugh already has a solid foundation to be effective at the next level and should fit nicely in Urban Meyer’s offensive system. The newest addition to the Buckeyes’ 2013 recruiting class is a faster, more athletic tight end like Jake Stoneburner, or even former Gator, Aaron Hernandez. These type of athletic and versatile tight ends are key to the success of Meyer’s system and will create countless mismatches for OSU’s future opponents.

The product out of Riverside, California is the Buckeyes’ eighth commitment of the 2013 class and the seventh 4-star as of now. Despite Baugh’s commitment, the Buckeyes may still add another tight end to their class in the form of Mike Heuerman. Clearly Meyer is intent on filling his offense with big and athletic tight ends, so the landing of Marcus Baugh can’t be overlooked.
