Ohio State Football Recruiting: Urban Meyer Adds 13th Verbal to Class of 2013

New Albany (OH) athlete Darron Lee of New Albany High School became the 13th member of Urban Meyer’s recruiting class for 2013 Tuesday afternoon, reports Matt Barnes of NBC4i.com.

The 3-star prospect made his future collegiate plans clear through his personal Twitter account, by tweeting, “Proud to Be a Buckeye! #BuckeyeNation”

Lee stood out among others during recent Ohio State football camps, where he was finally offered a scholarship by Meyer and the staff. He did not hesitate to respond.

“I have committed to Ohio State,” Lee told Scout.com. “I got the offer a short while ago, when I spoke to Coach (Luke) Fickell. He told me they were offering me a scholarship, and I couldn’t believe it. Before I could even commit, Coach Fickell made me call my mom and my head coach to tell them the news.”

Although Lee appeared at the Columbus Elite 11 and Nike Camp earlier this year as a quarterback, it is likely the Buckeyes will utilize his unique skill set as a safety.
