Pizza Guy Fired For Joke About Ohio State

Buckeyes Issue This Statement:

A statement from the university,  said that the Fickells didn’t complain to the owner.  A remark was made by an employee to Mrs. Fickell but they did not call to complain.  The manager found out about the incident and called the Fickells to ask what his employee said.  So it sounds like they didn’t call to complain, rather,  they “feel terrible that this person lost his job.”  There’s always two sides to every story.  All they wanted was a pizza.

Original Story:

A pizza man at Iacono’s Pizza and lifelong Ohio State fan took an order from the wife of Buckeyes defensive coordinator Luke Fickell. He made a joke during at the end of that call and that comment has cost him his job.

He asked not to be named but shared his story with ABC6.

He said Luke Fickell’s wife, Amy, placed an order shortly after the Buckeyes beat Michigan State. The employee told her “We really should improve on our tackling, it’s really bad right now.”

Amy Fickell apparently called the restaurant to complain about the employee’s commentary.  The next day, the pizza guy’s boss at Iacono’s Pizza called to tell him he had been fired.

The pizza guy said: “You can’t take criticism, in a joking manner too, from somebody who’s a fan?” “That’s just, like, a little bit ridiculous.
