Ohio State Will Play 3 Night Games This Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will play three Big Ten Conference games in prime time this season on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. The slate of Big Ten prime time games televised on those networks was released today and the six-game schedule will feature two Ohio State games at Ohio Stadium. The Ohio State prime time games are (all times Eastern):

  • Sept. 28 when Ohio State kicks off its 2013 Big Ten Conference schedule against the Wisconsin Badgers in Ohio Stadium at 8 p.m. on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2;
  • The very next week – Oct. 5 – as Ohio State plays Northwestern for the first time in five years. The 8 p.m. game at Northwestern’s Ryan Field will be televised by either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2; and
  • October 26 when Penn State comes to Columbus for an 8 p.m. kickoff against the Buckeyes that will be televised on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

This year marks the sixth consecutive season that Ohio Stadium will be host to a night game. Ohio State has played 12 night games previously in Ohio Stadium beginning with the first-ever home night game in 1985 against Pitt.

Ohio State has played a total of 59 night games (those starting after 5 p.m. local time) and has an official night game record of 36-20. The Buckeyes are 8-3 in home night games, 19-10 in away night games and 9-7 at neutral sites. (All records reflect vacated night game wins in 2010: Marshall, at Minnesota and vs. Arkansas).
