Kenny Guiton and Ryan Shazier named B1G Players Of The Week

Guiton Named Walter Camp Player of the Week
For his efforts, Kenny Guiton, who completed 21 of 32 passes for 276 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions (or sacks), was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s offensive player of the week. UCLA’s Anthony Barr (three forced fumbles and 11 tackles in win over Nebraska) was defensive player of the week. Guiton is the eighth Buckeye to earn national player of the week honor from the prestigious Walter Camp Football Foundation, joining LB Bobby Carpenter (10/16/05), LB A.J. Hawk (11/13/05), LB James Laurinaitis (9/10/06 and 11/4/07), QB Troy Smith (11/19/06), DT Cameron Heyward (11/8/09) and DB Chimdi Chekwa (9/12/10).

Guiton & Shazier Big Ten PoW
Kenny Guiton was also named the Big Ten Conference’s offensive player of the week for his weekend efforts out west and he was joined on the honor roll by junior linebacker Ryan Shazier, who was named the conference’s top defensive performer this past week. Despite leaving the game for a while in the second quarter with an injury, Shazier returned to the game and ended up leading the Buckeyes in tackles with 12 while the team held California, No. 1 in the nation in passing coming into the game, more than 100 yards below its national average. Shazier also had a quarterback sack and a forced fumble. His efforts earned Shazier the third Big Ten defensive player of the week award of his career.
