COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State athletics director Gene Smith on Thursday shot down a report that he might pursue the same position at Texas and made clear that he has no intentions to leave his current post.
The Austin American-Statesmen identified Smith as a target for the Longhorns as they search for a replacement for the retiring DeLoss Dodds and reported Thursday that he would interview for the position.
Smith, however, quickly issued a statement dismissing the claim, and he also posted on Twitter that he was “staying at Ohio State.”
… Reports of me interviewing at the University of Texas are inaccurate.
Thank you and Go Bucks!— gene smith (@OSU_AD) October 31, 2013
