Big Ten Championship 2013: Live Game Grades and Analysis for Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State (12-0) is a win away from playing for its first national championship since 2008. But the Buckeyes still have to get past Michigan State (11-1) in Saturday’s Big Ten title game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

OSU cruised to the Leaders Division title, and after beating Wisconsin early it spent most of its games trying to beef up its profile for the possibility of a national title appearance. The Buckeyes nearly fell out of the championship race, though, but thwarted Michigan’s late two-point try to beat the Wolverines 42-41 last week to remain undefeated.

Michigan State won the Legends Division thanks to a swarming defense that has allowed just 11.8 points per game. The Spartans haven’t lost since a 17-13 defeat at Notre Dame in September.

The game is being shown live at 8:17 p.m. ET on Fox, but check back here at halftime for our grades and analysis of Ohio State’s first-half performance. Then, come back right after the game to see a full review of the Buckeyes’ effort against Michigan State.
