Wisconsin football recruiting: WR A.J. Alexander commits to Ohio State over Badgers

The Badgers lose out on a receiver prospect they’ve been chasing since February.

Wisconsin was widely perceived as the leader for three-star Lake Braddock, Virginia, athlete A.J. Alexander for some time, but over recent weeks Ohio State and Nebraska gained ground for the 6’4, 220-pound prospect. Indeed, the Buckeyes nabbed his commitment, which Alexander announced Friday evening to teammates and coaches.

Given his size, some schools (like Ohio State) offered Alexander as a H-back with plans to utilize his versatility. Wisconsin’s greatest advantage was that it was offering Alexander as a receiver, where he could very likely step in and fight for playing time from the start. The Badgers offered Alexander back in February, one of the first teams to do so. The Buckeyes, meanwhile, didn’t extend an offer until May, but alas, there’s the Urban Meyer magic.
