COLUMBUS, Ohio — First thoughts on the Ohio State Buckeyes after their 56-17 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday: • Ohio State scored 50 points in four straight games for the first time in school history. This is a new era in the game. Offense is king and stats and scores are through the roof. It may as well be a different sport compared to what teams played 50 years ago. So keep that in mind. Still – pretty good. And in this new era, an Urban Meyer offense operating this way is right in the middle of what’s going on. This is also the first time in Meyer’s career one of his teams has scored 50 or more in four straight. • It’s impossible to run up the score in a conference game.
