CLEVELAND, Ohio – Find rushing statistics for every Ohio State running back, quarterback and other players who have run the football for the Buckeyes since 1968 with this database. Thirty times Ohio State running backs have topped the 1,000-yard mark in a season, starting with Jim Otis in 1969 and extending through Carlos Hyde in 2013. Two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin tops a list of 25 players who have run for at least 2,000 yards in a career. Sources: Northeast Ohio Media Group, Ohio State University and Sports Reference LLC. Archie Griffin tops this list of Ohio State backs as the top rusher in school history.Associated Press The time period covered by the database, beginning with the national championship season of 1968, includes most of the top runners statistically in Ohio State history. But there were some great backs earlier. Howard Cassady ran for 2,466 yards from 1952-55, Bob Ferguson 2,162 yards from 1959-62, and Don Clark had 2,116 yards from 1956-58.  No 1,000-yard rushers for a single season show up in the OSU record book until Jim Otis in 1969. In some cases, records from various sources conflict. We did the best we could to provide the most accurate information in this database.
