That bucket put Ohio State up 60-44, and it cruised from there. What it means: That Ohio State is up to the task of playing a legitimate opponent. Matta likes that Marquette fell on the schedule early to test his team’s mettle, and the Buckeyes handled the challenge beautifully. Sometimes it’s hard to really get a sense for a team early in a schedule filled with inferior opponents, and while the Buckeyes are still very much a work in progress, they passed their first test of the season without much doubt.   Crucial run: Marquette cut Ohio State’s lead to five early in the second half, then the Buckeyes went on a 13-5 run to open a 13-point lead at 46-33 with 15:26 remaining. During the run, sophomore Marc Loving accounted for seven points.  Play of the game: Shannon Scott grabbed the loose ball off a missed shot and pushed the ball. He found a high-flying Sam Thompson for a pretty two-handed slam off the alley-oop to put Ohio State up 52-39 with 11:42 remaining. Thompson also finished another alley-oop to put Ohio State up 68-51 with roughly five minutes left. …
