Ohio State football: Buckeyes DE Noah Spence ruled permanently ineligible by the Big Ten

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State junior defensive end Noah Spence has been ruled permanently ineligible for all intercollegiate athletics competition by the Big Ten, athletic director Gene Smith announced in a statement Tuesday night. Spence was suspended indefinitely in September for failing a second drug test. He had an appeal with the Big Ten on Tuesday. “While we are disappointed in the outcome, we are pleased that Noah has come a long way and we are very proud of the progress he has made with regard to his health,” Smith said in the statement. “The Department of Athletics will continue to assist Noah through his pursuits and provide the academic resources necessary to help him complete his degree program.”
