The Ohio State Buckeyes are No. 6 with a bullet. But after Saturday, it appears they’ll be without their most important weapon, quarterback J.T. Barrett, down the stretch of the NCAA football season. So what do you do with a Barrett-less Buckeyes squad if you’re the College Football Playoff committee? The committee members have been told to factor everything into play when determining the final four teams for the inaugural College Football Playoff. Without Barrett, who went down in late Saturday’s 42-28 victory over the arch-rival Michigan Wolverines, the Buckeyes aren’t the same team going forward in a bid for the national championship. Even if they defeat the Wisconsin Badgers in next Saturday’s Big Ten National Championship Game, there’s reason for the committee to believe the Barrett injury fails to make them final-four worthy. And that’s a huge point of debate with at least one spot open in the top four after the No. 4 Mississippi State Bulldogs fell 31-17 to the No. 19 Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday. After getting crushed by a host of Wolverines, QB Barrett was carted off field with an inflatable cast on his right leg. “He’s a tremendous leader,” Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer told ABC post-game of Barrett. “I love the guy. He’s a warrior.” But reports say with a broken ankle, he’s done for the rest of the season. …
