COLUMBUS, Ohio – There was no huge recruiting battle between Ohio State and Louisville for D’Angelo Russell, and there are no horror stories of fans reacting poorly when Russell decided to leave home.  Considering Russell was a five-star prospect and one of the most pursued recruits in the 2014 recruiting class, that’s pretty surprising. Sometimes things are just simple.  Russell liked Ohio State. He committed. The end.  “I have always said this: A lot of great players don’t want to be recruited,” Ohio State coach Thad Matta said. “They kind of want to find a spot they think they can be successful and be happy at. D’Angelo was definitely in that mold. He didn’t need to be recruited real hard. I don’t remember Louisville being hot and heavy after him.”  It couldn’t have worked out better for Matta and No. 14 Ohio State.
