College football playoffs sees Ohio State get No. 4 over Baylor and TCU in a Non-upset

The Ohio State Buckeyes won the coveted fourth and final spot of the brand new college football playoff series, and no one will be surprised to hear that the committee chairman, Jeff Long, will next be seen dotting the “I’’ at halftime of the Buckeyes’ semfinal game against Alabama. You bet the committee saw Ohio State as the No. 4 team. From Jump Street. Long and his committee did what everyone expected and what people in Fort Worth and Waco absolutely feared. When it comes to rounding out a field for a first-ever football tournament, little old TCU (enrollment: 10,000) and the old  SWC Baptist school, Baylor University, (enrollment: 16,000) were up against it when they were pitted against Ohio State’s football tradition, brand, TV appeal and everything else that matters. The Big Ten might be as overrated as ever. We’ll find out soon enough in the bowls, when their reps usually fall flat on their faces,to howls from around America. But it’s still Ohio State (enrollment: 57,000), their famous script Ohio and the Big Ten, long the powerhouse conference before anybody ever heard of Woody Hayes. The Big 12 is a lot like the rest of America. It operates in the Big 10’s vast shadow.
