Source: Houston hires Ohio St. OC Herman

Updated: December 16, 2014, 9:42 AM ET ESPN.com news services Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman has signed on to become the head coach at Houston, but he will still coach the Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff, a source confirmed to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy. Herman’s deal with Houston is for five years, a source said. It is expected to be announced Tuesday. Houston fired coach Tony Levine last week. Fox Sports first reported that Herman was expected to be Houston’s next coach. No. 4 Ohio State plays No. 1 Alabama in a Jan. 1 semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
