National Signing Day: WR A.J. Alexander signs with Ohio State

But as the Lake Braddock wide receiver watched the Buckeyes advance through the first college football playoff and win the national championship, he grew that much more excited about spending his college years in Columbus, Ohio. On Wednesday, Alexander joined the winning tradition by signing his National Letter of Intent to play for Ohio State. The move comes on the heels of a whirlwind season for Alexander. (John McDonnell / The Washington Post) After recording 42 catches for 600 yards and nine touchdowns on offense and intercepting five passes on defense to earn All-Met honors as a junior, Alexander saw his senior season end after just four games when he tore the ACL in his knee just a week after committing to Ohio State. In that same Sept. 19 contest that he hurt his knee, Alexander had scored two touchdowns in the first half on a 95-yard kickoff return and 69-yard run, flashing the speed, power and skills that made him one of the area’s top recruits. Alexander took a visit to Ohio State this past weekend, using the time to get to know the campus, team and trainers while taking in the Buckeyes’ basketball game against Maryland. The senior said he expects to be ready for the start of the season, when he’ll likely compete for a spot as an H-back or tight end.
