Urban Meyer finally back on dry land after Buckeyes cruise got stranded at sea

(Scott Halleran/Getty Images) When we last heard from Urban Meyer, he was leaving Marcus Mariota and the Oregon offense in a fog as Ohio State won the national championship, 42-20. On Tuesday, the Buckeyes coach finally returned to dry land, after his cruise ship was stuck at sea for an extra day because of heavy fog. Meyer, a bunch of other Ohio State football luminaries and hundreds of Buckeyes fans had been on a Royal Caribbean ship, as part of a charity fund-raising cruise. The itinerary had everyone departing from Tampa on Thursday, arriving at Cozumel, Mexico, on Saturday, then getting back to Tampa on Monday. But as the ship neared Florida, this happened: That photo was posted to Instagram by Dustin Fox, a Cleveland radio host and former NFL cornerback who played college ball at Ohio State. He added this caption: “View from my room. Can’t see anything. #Fog @buckeyecruise” Fox was one of many Buckeyes greats accompanying Meyer on the cruise; others included Robert Smith, Kirk Herbstreit, A.J. Hawk and James Laurinaitis. According to ABC News, a total of 2,160 passengers were aboard, most of whom were Ohio State fans, as well as 880 crew members. Fortunately, the ship was well-stocked with food and drink, and the bathrooms continued to work, unlike some other stranded-cruise horror stories. “We are good. No worries,” Meyer texted to the Columbus Dispatch. “However, we are ready to get home.” Finally, the Coast Guard arrived on Tuesday to help the cruise ship get back to port…
