Ohio State basketball gets commitment from 2016 St. Edward C Derek Funderburk: Buckeyes recruiting

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State received a verbal commitment from 2016 St. Edward center Derek Fundeburk on Wednesday. Fundberburk posted his commitment on his Twitter profile. A four-star prospect, Funderburk is rated as the No. 6 center and No. 41 overall player in the country by 247Sports. He’s also the No 4 player in Ohio. The 6-foot-9, 210 pound Funderburk told Northeast Ohio Media Group in October that he was being recruiting as more of a wing player. “They want me to be able to step out and shoot 3s,” Funderburk said then. “They want me to play the position I want to play, which is the small forward, because I know I’m probably not going to grow anymore. At the next level I’m thinking ahead. I’ll play center in high school, as far as where I want to be in the NBA, it’s a 3 or a stretch 4.” Funderburk also had offers from Iowa, Penn State, Indiana and Xavier.
