NFL: Redskins pick Ohio State’s Evan Spencer in sixth round

A wide receiver who catches only 15 passes in 15 games usually has to go the undrafted route if he’s to make the NFL.

But Evan Spencer’s value to Ohio State was almost about more than his catches, and the Washington Redskins recognized that when they took the Buckeyes receiver in the sixth round with the 187th overall pick this afternoon. Of course, it might have helped that Spencer’s older brother, Cole, is an area scout for the team. He scouts the Northeast.
