Ohio State football: Why the 2016 NFL Draft could be a record-setting one for the Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — If you were an Ohio State fan trying to pass the time during the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft on Thursday, Michael Thomas’ Twitter feed would’ve been a good place to look.

Thomas, the receiver who led the Buckeyes in receptions last year, was providing his own blow-by-blow analysis of the players coming off the board, particularly the ones Ohio State beat en route to its National Championship win in Dallas.

Wisconsin had a first-rounder in running back Melvin Gordon. Alabama had one in receiver Amari Cooper. Oregon had two in quarterback Marcus Mariota and defensive lineman Arik Armstead. Michigan State, another team the Buckeyes beat last year, had a first rounder in cornerback Trae Waynes.

It hammered home at least this point: It’s possible to not look great against Ohio State, but still be a really good football player.

Thomas wasn’t impressed. After Waynes went off the board, Thomas tweeted the hashtag #NoFlyZone with the emoji of a face that’s laughing so hard that it’s crying. That was done as a way to poke fun at the moniker Michigan State players use for its secondary.
