Zeke Elliott’s Heisman push has an anthem

Ohio State’s fluid quarterback situation remains the nation’s biggest college football story entering the summer. But it’s possible none of the three signal-callers — Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett or Braxton Miller — is the Buckeyes’ best Heisman Trophy candidate in 2015.

To be fair, it’s hard to build a Heisman campaign around a guy who might not start Sept. 7 at Virginia Tech. The other part of Ohio State’s offensive backfield, meanwhile, is completely settled.

It will be Ezekiel Elliott’s show in 2015. Elliott was the nation’s best player during Ohio State’s national title push racking up 696 rush yards and eight touchdowns in wins against Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon. Although the Heisman has become a quarterback’s award — only one non-QB, Alabama running back Mark Ingram, has claimed it since 1999 — many view Elliott as the Buckeyes’ best candidate.

Count rapper Mekka Don among those folks. The Columbus native and former Buckeyes walk-on wide receiver — given name: Chukwuemeka Nnamdi Onyejekwe — has produced a Heisman anthem for Elliott, appropriately titled “Zeke.”
