Former college basketball player goes on Twitter rant, rips NCAA

What is there for an American professional basketball player competing overseas to do when the season ends and they are free to party in Tblisi, Georgia?Apparently, get really drunk and start ranting about their college career.Such was the case for Garrick Sherman, a center who started at Michigan State before transferring to Notre Dame and finishing his career in 2014.It all started out innocently enough on Wednesday evening as Sherman posted on his Twitter account, “Our season ended today so I may or may not have consumed some alcohol.”Who hasn’t found themselves intoxicated in the capital city of a former Russian republic and made the decision to set Twitter ablaze? We get it, Garrick. Some Michigan State fans may not, however.Sherman indicated over the course of his rant that Spartans coach Tom Izzo is not a big fan of his and that’s not likely to change.“At the Final Four, (Izzo) told me not to (expletive) embarrass myself in front of a crowd bigger than my hometown after I air balled a shot,” Sherman posted. That’s not where the problems arose.Sherman said he helped former teammate Durrell Summers pass a drug test that he almost certainly would have failed.“I pissed in a condom and gave it to Durrell Summers to pass a drug test. Suck it #NCAA #stillwenttothefinalfour #suckstobeyou,” Sherman posted, before acknowledging the enormity of what he had just written. “If that last tweet doesn’t make me Twitter famous, I give up.”Sherman was far from finished. Over the course of more than an hour, he interacted with many users of the social media site and answering their questions. He went on to suggest rampant cheating and drug use at the majority of the top programs in college basketball, specifically making reference to Kentucky players being paid for their services.Sherman saved his harshest words for the NCAA, ripping the organization on many fronts. When all was said and done, Sherman knew his words weren’t going to help his relationship with his old coach.“Izzo might actually hate me more (if that’s possible) when he loses scholarships cause I drunkenly spilled half his team smoked weed,” Sherman posted. In the end, it was mission accomplished.Sherman added well over a thousand followers over the course of the day.
