Urban Meyer says QB Braxton Miller will play for Ohio State in 2015

Urban Meyer acknowledged once again that Braxton Miller will remain at Ohio State despite speculation the Buckeyes quarterback could transfer this offseason. “He’s playing for Ohio State (this) fall,” Meyer told reporters Friday during a news conference. Miller’s status for this upcoming season has been a topic of discussion as some suggest his time at the school is short. A shoulder injury sidelined Miller for the entire 2014 season. His graduation in December coupled with strong performances by J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones have some believing he’ll follow a similar path as Everett Golson and transfer to another school. Golson left Notre Dame and will attend Florida State in the fall.  Meyer has said from the start that he expects Miller to return in 2015 despite rumors to the contrary, pointing to the fifth-year senior’s continued rehabilitation this offseason. “He’s starting to throw (a football) now. I think he’s up to 35 yards,” Meyer said according to Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch. The plan, according to Meyer per the Dispatch, is for Miller to throw under a restricted schedule until sometime in late June or late July. Ohio State won the Big Ten championship in 2014 while qualifying for the first College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes knocked off Alabama in the semifinals in New Orleans before defeating Oregon to win the national championship in Dallas. Ohio State is considered by many to be the team to beat in 2015 thanks to the return of Miller, Barrett and Jones. The trio will compete for the starting job when fall camp opens up in August.
