BSR 2015 Season Preview: Back End of Ohio State Schedule the Key to Repeating

ShareTweetFootball is the ultimate team game. In a short 12 game span, it is imperative for teams and coaches to evolve the finished product over time into the best well oiled machine they can. Last year, that was evident with the champion Ohio State Buckeyes, who got better game after game and exploded offensively after a struggle in the Horseshoe against Virginia Tech in week 2. So many key players on offense and defense improved drastically from start to finish. Even more importantly was that improvement meshed perfectly with team chemistry. Despite losing starter J.T. Barrett for the postseason, the Buckeyes didn’t falter one bit. Urban Meyer and company altered the game plan a bit. The defense understood that they had to continue to play the best football of their careers. They took their game to another level while the offensive line and Ezekiel Elliott forged a symmetry that left opposing defense dazed. Now that the Chase is over, the 2015 season is all about the grind. And as David Regimbal of Bleacher Report and I discuss on this week’s first Buckeye Season Preview, that grind will entail a tough back end of the schedule. Minnesota challenged the Buckeyes last season. The Michigan State Spartans have transformed their matchup with Ohio State into a must watch game with constant title implications. And now with the sheriff in town at That State Up North, we know that the Wolverines will be up for The Game no matter where they lie in the B1G standings.
