Buckeyes overwhelmingly B1G wagering favorites

We are exactly 80 days away from the North Carolina-South Carolina Power Five opener, which means we’re beginning to see copious amounts of 2015 previews and, in this case, wagering odds roll out. The sportsbook CG Technology, ESPN.com reported Monday, has released its Power Five conference odds and, not surprisingly, defending College Football Playoff champion Ohio State has the best odds of any of the P5 teams to win a league title. The Buckeyes sit at 1/2 to win the Big Ten championship — you’d have to bet $200 just to win $100 — while Michigan State sits at 13/4. Wisconsin, which fell to OSU in last season’s title game, is next at a distant 8/1. Whether it was intentional or not, CGT slapped both Maryland and Purdue in the face by not including either of those teams in the B1G odds. Speaking of the latter two conferences, Florida State, winners of three straight ACC titles and four of the last five, are slight 5/2 favorites over Clemson at 3/1. In the Pac-12, meanwhile, 2014 champion Oregon is the favorite to repeat at 9/4, with USC not far behind at 11/4. The Big 12 is relatively tightly bunched at the top, with TCU (17/10), Baylor (5/2), Oklahoma (4/1) and Oklahoma State (5/1) given relatively good odds to win the only P5 conference without a league championship game. And then there’s the SEC. Alabama and Auburn are far and away the biggest favorites at 5/2 and 15/4 respectively. Tennessee, the darling of 2015 preseason prognosticators, is among a group of schools that includes LSU and Ole Miss at 8/1, behind Georgia at 5/1. Missouri, winners of the last two SEC East titles, is listed at… well, they are not listed at all. I’ve reached out to CGT for some clarification on that glaring omission, as well as the others. Anyway, below are the (in)complete set of CGT Power Five conference odds: ACCFlorida St. 5/2Clemson 3/1Ga. …
