LSU QB Anthony Jennings arrested & suspended, Tigers’ 2015-16 NCAA football odds

Starting LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings is among four Tigers players who have been recently arrested and suspended. The players were arrested for two separate incidents, one of which allegedly involved three players breaking into an apartment to take back some items that Jennings had stolen. In the other incident, an LSU redshirt freshman defensive tackle, Trey Lealaimatafao, was arrested for charges of simple robbery and simple battery for an incident that happened a few days earlier. On June 19, USA Today reported that the junior starting quarterback, Jennings, was arrested for a felony charge of unauthorized entry of a dwelling. His teammate, sophomore defensive lineman Maquedius Bain, was arrested for the same charge, while the third player, junior defensive back Dwayne Thomas, was arrested for two different charges. Reportedly, Thomas was arrested for misdemeanor simple burglary in addition to the felony unauthorized entry of a dwelling. The players were attempting to get several items that Jennings had claimed were stolen from him including a MacBook Air and PlayStation 4. In an incident days prior, Lealaimatafao was allegedly going through the pockets of an unconscious man, and also pushed and punched a woman in the face in the parking lot of Reggie’s, a bar near the LSU campus. Allegedly, the 18-year-old punched the woman with a closed fist as she was screaming at him, causing her to fall to the ground. It’s unknown how the other man lying unconscious on the ground ended up there. Lealaimatafao was a redshirt for the team last year after punching glass in the LSU weight room caused him an injury. All four players are now suspended indefinitely raising concern in terms of any championship hopes. Of the players, Jennings has started at QB for the Tigers since 2013, while Lealaimatafao was considered the No. 26 defensive tackle by Rivals.com rankings in 2014. In terms of current odds, the LSU Tigers are listed ninth on the future odds to win the 2016 championship tied with Georgia and Oklahoma, all of whom carry odds of 25 to 1. The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to lead all teams with odds of 3 to 1, followed by Alabama at odds of 15 to 2.
