JT Barrett’s dad: Braxton Miller, if healthy, ‘should get that position back’

(USATSI) Braxton Miller has a surprising supporter in his bid to reclaim the Ohio State starting quarterback job: Joe Barrett, the father of none other than Miller’s depth chart rival, J.T. Barrett. Citing the time-honored tradition of it not being ideal for starting players to lose their position on the depth chart due to injury, Joe told the Columbus Dispatch on Sunday that Miller should be the Buckeyes’ No. 1 quarterback, if healthy. Furthermore, he said his son (or Cardale Jones) should have to force Miller out of that role via their own performance, not Miller’s “misfortune”: “Of course I would love to see my kid start, but for me it always goes back to who was first,” he said. “If Braxton hadn’t gotten hurt, I would still be waiting for my baby to get the chance to play. I was thankful J.T. got that chance … and we were all blessed that he was ready to compete, but like I have told everybody, I don’t want to see my kid take a position because of the misfortune of someone else,” he said. “In other words, Braxton should get that position back, then everybody else should go try to take it from him.” That is extremely gentlemanly on the part of Joe, particularly considering that J.T…
