In response to a question from The Columbus Dispatch, Miller wrote that he expects to announce his immediate plans next week. Now, it’s unclear what he means by “immediate plans” but it will be somewhat of a surprise if his announcement doesn’t include an answer on whether he’s staying put at Ohio State or transferring. While head coach Urban Meyer and Ohio State AD Gene Smith have both said Miller will be playing for the Buckeyes this season, Miller would be able to transfer to a different school and play immediately because he’s a graduate. Miller has not spoken to the media since last August. Why would Miller transfer? Well, if he wants to be a starting quarterback, he would probably have a better chance of earning that role elsewhere, with Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett in the mix at Ohio State. In a recent poll of College Football 24/7 analysts, Miller didn’t receive a single vote on the question of which Ohio State quarterback gives the Buckeyes the best chance to compete for a second straight national title. Could he announce he’s changing positions? It’s long been believed that he’ll eventually have to do that if he wants to play in the NFL, so he might be best served by getting acclimated at a new spot while he’s still in college…
