Where did Alabama, Auburn athletic departments rate for major sports in 2014-15?

Neither Alabama nor Auburn were in the top 15 athletic departments in the nation, when calculating major-sport results, according to a formula devised by CBSSports.com. CBSSports.com’s formula calculated results for football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and one “wild-card” sport. The wild card, which varies from school to school, is most successful among the school’s following spectator sports: softball, men’s lacrosse, men’s ice hockey, men’s soccer, wrestling, volleyball, women’s soccer or women’s gymnastics. The formula accounts for each sport’s relative importance as a spectator sport, as football is weighed with a triple value, while men’s basketball is worth twice as many points as the other sports that are part of the formula. Football programs got points for a winning season or bowl berth or Top 25 ranking, while basketball and baseball programs got points for postseason berths.  Using that formula, Alabama ranked No. 18 and Auburn was No. 34. Among SEC schools, Alabama was second and Auburn eighth. Arkansas was the top SEC school in the rankings at No. 16.
