Miller’s Switch Increases Ohio State’s Heisman Power – TU – Today’s U

With Braxton Miller dropping out of what was the three-way Ohio State quarterback competition to be an H-Back, wide receiver and punt-returner, the already stacked Buckeyes offense will have yet another weapon in their arsenal. In other words, it was a true case of addition by subtraction. The Buckeyes will have at least three Heisman trophy contenders in their offense. It could be college football’s version of a Million Dollar backfield. You have to wonder how many balls will they have to spread around? Whoever wins the Buckeyes starting quarterback position will definitely be a Heisman candidate —J.T. Barrett, who’s recovering from a fractured ankle or sophomore Cardale Jones, who guided the Buckeyes to the Big Ten championship and the national championship. Barrett is on the Walter Camp Foundation’s watch list. Last season in place of the injured Miller, Barrett set a school record in 2014 for total offense with 3,772 yards. He passed the ball for 2,834 yards with 34 touchdown passes. Like his teammate Miller, Barrett also has the ability to pull the ball down and run it. …
