Ex-Buckeyes WR Epitropoulos will walk on with Spartans

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Frank Epitropoulos warms up before a game against the San Diego State Aztecs in 2013.(Photo: Greg Bartram USA TODAY Sports) Frank Epitropolous has crossed Big Ten East enemy lines — after initially deciding to stop playing football — and today, he announced his newfound status as a Michigan State walk-on receiver this way on Twitter: “True Greek Spartan.” The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Epitropolous is a former three-star recruit from Upper Arlington, Ohio, who played at Ohio State in 2012 and 2013. He redshirted in 2012 and caught one pass while playing in four games as a redshirt freshman. He announced before last season that he was giving up football to focus on academics and preparation for medical school. Epitropolous will reunite in East Lansing with MSU linebacker Chris Frey, a high school teammate. And as a walk-on, he will be eligible to play right away. His father, John — a former Ohio State player — today confirmed his son’s plans with the Spartans but said that Frank wanted to hold off on commenting until he got to East Lansing.
