Big Ten media day storylines highlighted by Ohio State, Harbaugh, more

CHICAGO — Can you feel the excitement? Over the next two days, gathered media from Ann Arbor to Iowa City; State Park to State College; and Bloomington to Lincoln — and maybe even New Jersey — will converge on Chicago for the 2015 Big Ten Football Media Days. Otherwise known as “a great distraction in July,” conference media days are an opportunity for head coaches to reassure everyone that they know what they’re doing and for top college players to wear their finest suits. This year’s Big Ten slate has Michigan scheduled to meet with the media on Friday, along with Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue and Rutgers. Thursday’s lineup offers up Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. If you can’t make it, you’re in luck, as ESPNU is scheduled to televise all 14 head coaches’ press conferences live or tape-delayed on both Thursday and Friday between 12-3 p.m. While using your sick days to stay at home and enjoy the action, here are some storylines to watch through Thursday and Friday. • Urban Meyer will be the bell of the ball. He gets to say and do whatever he wants. I for one would like to see him tousle Jim Delany’s remaining hair. • If you want to play along at home, count how many times Meyer refers to his own past championship teams. …
