Ohio State suspends star defender Joey Bosa, three others for season opener

Defending college football national champion Ohio State announced Thursday that four players will miss the Buckeyes’ opening game against Virginia Tech for violating athletic department policy.

The most notable of the quartet is junior defensive end Joey Bosa, last year’s Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and a consensus All-American. He led the Buckeyes in sacks with 13.

“I fully support Ohio State and I fully support my son,” Bosa’s father John Bosa told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “Coach (Urban) Meyer, to his character, has team rules and it doesn’t matter who breaks them.”
