The Buckeyes swept most of the preseason awards. And Ohio State’s defense features preseason Defensive Player of the Year Joey Bosa and two others who received votes in the Cleveland.com poll: linebacker Darron Lee and safety Vonn Bell. Michigan State, Ohio State’s main competition in the east division, was unanimously selected as runner-up. Elliott received 31 first-place votes from the 39 people who voted for Offensive Player of the Year. Wisconsin and Nebraska are both bringing in new head coaches but have the talent to stay atop the west. Nebraska faces Michigan State and Rutgers while Wisconsin plays Rutgers and Maryland. Michigan State was picked to finished second in the East Division, followed by Penn State and Michigan. The remaining eight first-place votes in the West were divided between Nebraska (5) and Minnesota (3). Michigan also has a new head coach: Jim Harbaugh. While the majority of Big Ten Conference football writers think the University of Wisconsin football team will repeat as West Division champions this season, none believe the Badgers have what it takes to topple defending national champion Ohio State.
