College Football’s Most Important Offers of the Week

The tale of 3-star offensive lineman Gavin Cupp is a microcosm of the twists and turns the recruiting process can bring.

The 6’5”, 270-pound offensive tackle committed to Big Ten power Michigan State back in May.

However, when he took a visit to in-state power Ohio State late last month, the Spartans pulled his scholarship offer, as detailed by Sean Scherer of 247Sports.

Instead of letting that news get to him, Cupp turned in a strong performance at the Buckeyes’ Friday Night Lights camp that resulted in a subsequent offer from the defending national champions, as noted by Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts.

Cupp has 15 offers to his credit, with Illinois, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Virginia and West Virginia among the programs who have tendered him.

However, the Buckeyes could prove tough to beat for Cupp now that they have jumped in the race.

Ohio State currently has three commitments from offensive linemen—two guards and one tackle—in its 2016 class.
