Ohio State Won’t Have a Cakewalk Through the Big Ten

Ohio State has been ranked No. 1 in the nation in every college football magazine, cable media outlet, ham radio operation, fly-by night blog and college football junkie website around the country. And of course, everybody’s picking the Buckeyes to repeat as Big Ten champs for the second straight because they return their starting running back Ezekiel Elliot, who obliterated opposing defenses in the Big Ten title game and the two College Football Playoff games. Ohio State also has two of arguably the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten and several returning starters on defense. It hasn’t lost a regular season Big Ten game during Urban Meyer’s tenure in Columbus. The conference should be a walk in the park for the Buckeyes all the way to Indianapolis, right? No, and heck no. For one thing, the Buckeyes are coming in this season with the proverbial target on their backs and they’re going to get everybody’s best game. Contrary to popular belief, the Big Ten is as competitive as any other conference. Last season, Penn State didn’t have much of an offensive line and a running game last season, but still took the Buckeyes to overtime, nearly pulling off a miraculous comeback from a 17-0 deficit.
