Urban Meyer’s strength is tailoring his offense to the quarterback. But Barrett boasts the longer track record, the more accurate arm, the danger of a dual threat and the consistency factor. “I’m a big fan of Barrett,” said one B1G defensive coordinator. Added another: “I think part of Cardale’s success may have come from lack of data by Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon coaches in scouting him.” Put simply, there are no question marks about Barrett. No wild cards. He’s the safer selection, the more proven pick, and it’s easy to forget just how good he was before Ohio State shocked the nation with a national title.
