OSU’s in, but who else makes playoff?

Published: Wednesday, 8/12/2015 SPORTS COMMENTARY BY DAVE HACKENBERGBLADE SPORTS COLUMNIST It seems a foregone conclusion that Ohio State’s Buckeyes will be back in the final four of the upcoming season’s College Football Playoff. Sure, stuff can happen. It happened a year ago and the Buckeyes turned it into chicken salad and a national championship. But chicken droppings are always a threat. Still, OSU is formidable and the schedule is mostly not. Yes, some one-game suspensions make the opener at Virginia Tech a bit dicey, but the Bucks were stunned by the Hokies a year ago in Columbus and still managed to rebuild their resume to a more-than-satisfactory degree. Circle Nov. 21 against visiting Michigan State. On paper, and probably on the field too, these are the Big Ten’s best teams. The conference championship game will be easy pickings for whichever squad wins this game. …
