COLUMBUS, Ohio — The chance to play quarterback can wait. Sitting around for a year and not playing at all though? That’s not an option Torrance Gibson was willing to consider. It took less than a week of training camp for the touted, multipurpose offensive weapon to take a glance at Ohio State’s loaded depth chart at his preferred position and look for somewhere else to contribute, joining Braxton Miller in deciding that catching passes might be easier than standing in line to throw them in training camp this month. And while Gibson has made it clear he still has every intention of returning to quarterback down the road for the Buckeyes, based on the overwhelmingly positive early reviews and the name being dropped as a comparison for his set of skills, there’s certainly a chance his rush to get on the field might accidentally have provided him a new long-term spot there. “You know you’ve got J.T. Barrett and you’ve got Cardale Jones, and only one can play,” Gibson said. “I just had to move on and just play receiver for like a year, then come back to it.
