OSU women’s basketball team to host UConn

COLUMBUS — The Ohio State men’s basketball team may be known for its snoozing nonconference schedules.

But that doesn’t mean the women have to follow suit.

The Buckeyes’ women will play all four Final Four teams from a year ago this season, including three-time reigning national champion Connecticut.

ESPN announced Ohio State will kick off the network’s annual 24-hoops marathon with a Nov. 16 home showdown against the powerhouse Huskies. The 5:30 p.m. contest is the lone women’s game in a tip-off feast that will conclude Nov. 17 with a game between Kansas and Michigan State in Chicago.

The Buckeyes also open at South Carolina on Nov. 13, visit national runner-up Notre Dame on Dec. 2, and play Maryland during the Big Ten season.

Ohio State returns all five starters from a team that returned to the NCAA tournament for the first time in three years last season, including Liberty-Benton graduate Cait Craft and national freshman of the year Kelsey Mitchell.
