2015 College Football Predictions: Big Ten

This week, we’ve made some bold predictions for the SEC, Pac-12, Big 12 and ACC. Now, let’s bring the “power five” conferences to a close with the conference closest to home: the Big Ten.Ohio State ran away with the first College Football Playoff championship, and then Michigan ran away with the offseason headlines. Jim Harbaugh had returned to Ann Arbor to do battle with Urban Meyer and bring the Wolverines back to prominence, but the Buckeyes are still the most loaded team in the land. While the SEC owned the first round of the NFL Draft for much of the last decade, the Big Ten has slowly and quietly emerged as the powerhouse it has historically been with key first round picks at every position coming out of the conference. This year, the top quarterback in the country could be Connor Cook (MSU) or Christian Hackenberg (PSU), and Jabrill Peppers is starting to get comparisons to Charles Woodson in some Michigan circles. Ohio State has three NFL-caliber quarterbacks on their roster and defensive lineman Joey Bosa might be the first player selected in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Big Ten hasn’t avoided strong non-conference schedules for their elite teams again this year. Michigan State hosts Oregon, Ohio Sate visits Virginia Tech, Minnesota hosts TCU and Nebraska has both BYU (at home) and Miami (road) – and those games are all in September.
