Ohio State announces football captains

In a vote among players, sophomore J.T. Barrett was named one of six captains, along with senior H-back Braxton Miller, senior left tackle Taylor Decker, senior center Jacoby Boren, senior linebacker Joshua Perry, and junior safety Tyvis Powell. Barrett and junior Cardale Jones continue to compete for the quarterback job. Coach Urban Meyer said he will not announce a starter in advance of the Buckeyes’ Sept. 7 opener at Virginia Tech. “This was the most players I’ve seen receive votes for captains,” Meyer said. “We had 14 players receive votes, but these six separated themselves. This is one of the great accomplishments these young men will experience, to be elected by their peers. And it is very well deserved.” Guidelines: Please keep your comments smart and civil.
