College Football Preview: Dick Weiss breaks down the Top 25 for 2015

Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott Urban Meyer of Ohio State has supplanted Nick Saban of Alabama as the best big-game coach in college football. His resume speaks for itself. Meyer coached Utah to a perfect record in 2004, won national championships at Florida in 2006 and 2008 and then a third last season with the Buckeyes in the inaugural national football playoff, defeating Oregon, 42-20, in the final at Arlington, Tex. The Buckeyes are 38-3 under Meyer and 24-0 in Big Ten regular-season games in the past three years. Meyer has labeled this season as “The Grind”, but he seems better equipped to defend his title than any other Ohio State coach, including the iconic Woody Hayes and Jim Tressel. Meyer’s Bucks have averaged 42.8 points per game since he arrived in Columbus and have enough talent at every position to keep the ball rolling with their fifth straight top recruiting class in the Big Ten. 1. Ohio State (14-1) Meyer no longer has to worry about the log jam at quarterback after senior Braxton Miller, a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, shifted to wide receiver in the offseason. Now all he has to do is consider which of his two remaining Heisman Trophy candidate QBs — sophomore J.T. Barrett or redshirt junior Cardale Jones — will be his starter. …
