Sam Werner’s Top 25: Ohio State, Baylor, TCU top list

1. Ohio State With returning starters and depth across the board, the Buckeyes are the favorites to repeat whether it’s J.T. Barrett or Cardale Jones under center. 2. Baylor With Art Briles’ track record developing quarterbacks, there’s no reason Seth Russell won’t be able to step right in and have the Bears in the playoff mix. 3. TCU Quarterback Trevone Boykin enters the season as a Heisman front runner, and the Horned Frogs get Baylor at home this season. 4. Michigan State The Spartans should be able to weather the loss of coordinator Pat Narduzzi and once again have one of the nation’s elite defenses, plus QB Connor Cook guiding the offense. 5. Oregon The Ducks have one major question at QB — can transfer Vernon Adams step in to fill the void? — but bring back talent at every other spot and are again Pac-12 favorites. …
